How to build the future from a craftsman’s perspective.
HIROKI took the stage and gave a 20-minute presentation at TEDx, a collaboration brand officially licensed by the global presentation event TED.
This year’s theme was “REC” (time that cannot be recovered).
HIROKI shared experiences and insights gained from his 50 years as a craftsman.
Society has changed rapidly during those same 50 years, and while general affluence and convenience have increased, the number of craftspeople who make their living by hand has dramatically decreased. Even the tools and materials that support these craftspeople are no longer being produced. HIROKI concludes, “In order to create a future 100 years from now, we need to look closely at the past 100 years, and see what we have gained and what we have lost.”
